Drug manufacturers must show the international standard of GMP

Since the first January 2013 all drug manufacturers have to prove the international standard of GMP. Having GMP certificate will be required for import to Ukraine of foreign-made drugs.

"Good manufacturing practice" (the acronym stands for this certificate) according to the powers that should greatly improve the quality of medicines that are implemented in the Ukrainian pharmacies. Obligation to obtain such a certificate should assist vanishing from the shelves of pharmacies dubious medicines that can harm human health.

Instead, representatives of manufacturers say that the procedure for obtaining GMP, regulatory authorities described as light and streamlined, in practice proved too difficult, and a certain period of compulsory presence of the certificate they did not have time. So there is the risk of disruptions to the supply and sale in Ukraine some specific foreign drugs in case they receive a certificate GMP.
