Ukrainians began to teach the basics of the fight against human trafficking

U.S. Congressman Chris Smith began Monday in Kiev, a new training program against trafficking in human beings, designed for airport workers. The employees of the aviation sector in the Ukraine were the first in Europe began learning how to identify potential victims of trafficking, told the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.

"The airlines, hotels and transport workers are in a unique position, given the opportunity to identify potential victims, so that they could help," - said Chris Smith, who is the special representative of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly on human trafficking. In the session, which was held in the Ministry of Infrastructure, attended by about 30 representatives of the aviation administration, the Ministry of Social Policy, Interpol and the governments legal experts, the report said. The participants were taught how to identify potential victims of trafficking and how to report their suspicions to law enforcement agencies, while not violating civil liberties and not interfering with the flight schedule or traffic. 

In addition, Smith announced his draft resolution of the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE on the vigilance of the victims of human trafficking, which should encourage other countries to introduce similar courses. This project should be considered at the Assembly session, which starts at the end of this month.
