Entry into force of the law on import Licensing of medicines

The document has become law in a very short time - only in June, he was registered as early as July - fully approved by Parliament.

Law № 5038-VI of import licensing of medicines and definition of the term "active pharmaceutical ingredient" of 02.08.2012 gaining force. In a number of terms defined by the document, it also requires the activity license for import of drugs, which were not previously required. However, according to the final provision, on receipt of such compulsory license comes into force on 1 March 2013.

Representatives of the market, attended the press conference from this issue criticized the rules on compulsory licensing of imports of medicines. According to experts, the entry into force of this Law may leave Ukraine without imported drugs, especially given the fact that public authorities, to address licensing will need to spend time to develop licensing conditions.

In addition to 02.08.2012 entered force on the Law of Ukraine "On Amending Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine regarding Enhancement of Responsibility for fraud or fraudulent application of drugs" from 05.07.2012 № 5065-VI, which was heavily responsible for the falsification of medicines as well as violation of limits established for medical and pharmaceutical staff in carrying out their professional activities.
