United States praised the Ukrainian Code of Judicial Ethics

June 6 President of the Supreme Court of Ukraine Yaroslav Romaniuk met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Ukraine John F.Tefftom. The topic of conversation was the discussion of a wide range of issues of priority to long-term partnership in support of the United States of judicial reform in Ukraine, the press service of the APU.

Congratulating the beginning of the meeting Yaroslav Romaniuk on his election as President of the Supreme Court of Ukraine, the Ambassador noted that the goal of this partnership is to build a fair in Ukraine an independent judicial system as a cornerstone of a democratic society. In this context, he welcomed and gave a positive assessment of the Code of Judicial Ethics, adopted this year, the highest body of judicial self-government.

Noting the effectiveness of the interaction of the project of the U.S. Agency for International Development "fair justice" to the highest court, the President of the Supreme Court expressed suggestions for possible areas of cooperation, the implementation of which, in his opinion, would help Ukrainian judges and court personnel, and their status and role in the judicial work after the adoption of the Law "On the Judicial System and Status of Judges" would have received significantly more weight.

The Ambassador assured the APU is that Ukrainian side can count on the support and assistance of the U.S. government in the development of an independent judiciary.
