To fully equip checkpoints at the border forces of biometric passports in Ukraine to more than 180 mln  

For a complete retooling of checkpoints under the biometric passport agency needs 184 million USD, reported the State Border Service of Ukraine.

"The work of preparing for the introduction of biometric passports is" - said the first deputy head of the State Border Service of Paul Shisholin at a press conference on Thursday.

According to him, during the EURO-2012 38 checkpoints have already been equipped with the necessary equipment for reading biometric passports.

"We have in this year's 13.5 million UAH of budget funds, and from February 20, have already started bidding procedures, they will end, and we will purchase the necessary equipment," - he said.

In addition, he said, the border services in the current year will receive international technical assistance amounting to about 50 million USD. "We are together with the migration authorities appealed to the government and expect that when considering changes to the state budget will provide additional funds," - said P.Shisholin.

He expressed confidence that the border agencies will be able to prepare in time for the introduction of biometric passports in Ukraine.
