The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine proposes to introduce a system of probation - a form of criminal punishment without deprivation or restriction of liberty. A bill that is designed by the Ministry of Justice, adopted on 16 January, the Cabinet of Ministers.

According to Justice Minister Oleksandr Lavrynovych, the draft law provides for the establishment on the basis of the criminal executive inspection of probation that will exist in the structure of the State Penitentiary Service.

In general, the bill provides for a pre-trial probation - providing court information that characterizes a person to criminal liability. This information will be used to decide on the extent of the liability of. Among other things, the pre-trial report will provide a risk assessment of the possibility of re-criminal offense and the conclusion of any corrections without restriction or deprivation of liberty.

In addition, the country is expected to reduce the number of persons sentenced to the penalty of deprivation of liberty in detention centers and penal institutions.
